Several years ago, I did a series of character illustrations for fantasy novelist, Saira Ramasastry. Lately, I've found myself thinking about the characters from her novel, 'Heir to Govandhara,' and how I might paint them if I were drawing them today. I started sketching a face, and ended up with this picture: Marici, twin brother of the novel's heroine, and possessing the ability to harness the power of the elements.
